History: |
The club was started in 2002 following a visit to Kawerau of Sir James and Angus Fletcher. A committee was quickly formed by a group of ex Tasman Pulp and Paper employees who got things up and running. Today the club has approximately 250 members and is growing. Fletcher Challenge Limited employed a large number of people in the Eastern Bay of Plenty area. Many ex employees have dispersed far and wide as they have retired or resigned and our Club has members from many parts of New Zealand and even Australia. When canvassed the members preferred, at this time, to have only one major function per year and that takes the form of a pre Christmas luncheon and social gathering. |
