Our next function was a picnic in the grounds of Fletcher House at Broad Bay. We posted 150 letters thanks to Trevor Cockburn of Placemakers, who paid for the postage. We received only a few replies but managed to get 16 people to come. It was a fun day and the guide and manager were pleased we had made use of the house for the day.
On 28th May 2003 we had a mid week meal at the Joseph Mellor Restaurant. This is the training school for the chefs and hospitality industry. Madge and Robin phoned all the people on the list and we had 26 people who all enjoyed the occasion. After lunch we also visited The Settlers Museum which proved very popular. The Otago Daily Times took photos of our group and included them on their ODT People Page (photos reproduced here).

By phoning people for this function we were able to establish the level of interest in the club activities. From now on we are only able to contact those who show a continuing interest in the Clubs activities.
